Sustainable urban development and strategic planning will be the main themes of the next “International Conference Habitat III” organised by the United Nations that will be held in Quito (Ecuador) in October 2016 from 17th to 20th. The event will indicate the lines for optimum urban development to promote fairness, wellness and prosperity, according to the “New Urban Agenda 2030”.
For the occasion, each participating country was invited to compile a “National Report on Urban Policies” in regard to the territorial and sustainable development, so the Italian Government drew up its drafting, outlining steps taken, peculiarities of the urban areas of the country and transformations, next to the description of experiences and useful proposals to implement initiatives of strategic planning. On last July 7th the “National Report Habitat III” was been presented .
For its part, the private real estate sector, FIABCI – International Real Estate Federation, will present in Quito on October 18th during Habitat III a contribution based on the willingness to cooperate for the common interest and from the proposal constituted of:
– a “Global Policy Framework for Sustainable King Development”, today subject of public consultation, for a balanced real estate development worldwide in the coming decades;
– innovative solutions in order to facilitate private sector to meet the growing demand of accommodation at affordable prices, consequent to the expected extraordinary growth of the population at global level and of its urban settlement;
– an online tool (citysvil.mesys.it), active now in an experimental way to assess and monitor the sustainable development of a city and a territory and its progressive approach to the objectives, the Sustainable Development Goals, indicated last September by the General Assembly of the United Nations.
FIABCI Italia, on the eve of Quito, with the participation of ASPESI, FIMAA, IsIVI and AssoCastelli, has organised at the Castle of Chiavari (GE) on September 15th, from 6 pm to 8 pm, an aperitif for “Habitat III”, where, in the presence of the World President FIABCI, Kirkor Ajderhanyan, you will give an anticipation of what FIABCI, in representation of the private sector, will present in Quito in October on the occasion of the next World Conference of the United Nations.
