FIABCI Italia Event – Chiavari Castle (Ge) 14.09 pv, h. 18.00 – 20.00
It will be held on September 14th, in the exclusive setting of Chiavari Castle (Ge) and on the eve of the prestigious “Forum of Scenari Immobiliari” in Santa Margherita Ligure, the preview of a peculiar instrument of UN-Habitat to monitor the urban development sustainable: the “Perception Index” of the “City Prosperity Initiative”. UN-Habitat is the entity that the United Nations has identified as a global reference point for urban sustainability.
The event, organized and promoted by FIABCI Italia with the adherence of ASPESI, FIMAA and IsIVI, will inform informally the content of the online platform, result of the agreement between the International Real Estate Federation (FIABCI) and UN -HABITAT, signed on May 11th in Nairobi, to measure the urban development with a methodology developed by UN-Habitat and with the participation of citizens in order to facilitate the achievement of the “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” and the goals of the “Urban Agenda 2030”, unanimously defined by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015 and by the World Habitat III Conference in 2016.
The agreement intends to provide to local authorities an unmatched, efficient and globally shared instrument that, with the participation of independent experts and also simple citizens, can monitor the city’s progress in its sustainable urban growth. UN-Habitat, with the support of the private real estate sector, proposes an innovative approach through the use of the City Prosperity Initiative – Perception Index, which adds to a quantitative assessment, already used by UN-Habitat for over a year in over four hundred cities, a qualitative, simple, easy-to-realize estimate that brings citizens and technicians, but also ordinary people, to participate and be actively involved in delineating the city’s future.
The instrument gains particular significance from the global overview of the increase over the next two decades of the urban population and its approximate doubling for 2050 and intends to support local authorities in identifying innovative action strategies and solutions for urban planning and management, which can be suggested by UN-Habitat. Facilitating greater collaboration between institutions, civil society, and more generally the population, the platform can help make the cities “cities for people”, as called for by Habitat III, a conference of all nations of the world held last year year in Quito and as shown this year in the theme of the “Scenari di Immobiliari Forum”, which will open next week for this event in Santa Margherita Ligure.
The presentation will be a preview of the world-wide launch that will take place in Dubai during the “World Habitat Day” on October 2nd, at a UN-Habitat event organized by the Dubai Government in partnership with FIABCI, a representative organization of private real estate sector on a global scale. The event at the Castello di Chiavari will see the participation as speakers of the Ing. E. Campagnoli – President of the International Organizations Committee of FIABCI, Arch. M. Matteini – Vice President of the World Council of Experts of FIABCI, Adv. F. Oriana – National President of ASPESI, S. Taverna – National President of FIMAA.
